Utrecht, January 26th, 2022 – MRIguidance announces that Peter Seevinck, co-founder and CSO, has been appointed as interim CEO of the company. He will succeed Roel Raatgever for the foreseeable future and assume responsibilities from January 2022. Roel unfortunately very suddenly passed away in a traffic accident last November 23, 2021.

Prior to founding MRIguidance and after finishing his PhD thesis, Peter worked at the UMCU as researcher at the Image Sciences Institute. He developed a deep understanding of MR physics which led him to discover immense technological possibilities that could be exploited out of MR data. One of them was the invention of BoneMRI. In 2016 he partnered with image scientists and current CTO, Marijn van Stralen, and med-tech entrepreneur, Roel Raatgever, to found MRIguidance as a spin-off of the UMCU.

At MRIguidance, Peter has focused on clinically validating the software product BoneMRI that is CE approved and recently FDA cleared. He will now focus on leading the company into a new growth stage by accelerating the series A round of investments and extending the product to other areas of the body. Currently, BoneMRI is available for the pelvic region, lumbar and cervical spine.
