BoneMRI for the Total Spine

CE and FDA clearances have been granted making BoneMRI available now for the entire spine in the US and Europe.

Utrecht, March 19, 2024 – BoneMRI has received CE marking and FDA clearance, offering visualisation of the total spine, (including cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine) , and the pelvic region. 3D visualisation of the entire spine provides physicians with a comprehensive overview of spinal deformities and pathologies in adults and adolescents.

Patients facing conditions such as scoliosis, spondyloarthritis, and degenerative spine diseases will greatly benefit as these conditions often affect the entirety of the spine, making this clearance a particularly important one for them.

Moreover, this clearance marks a significant milestone for MRIguidance, as it enables the possibility of treatment planning and navigation in both the United States and the European Union for adolescents and adults. Surgeons can now potentially perform pre-operative and intra-operative procedures using BoneMRI. This brings benefits to the healthcare staff and patient:

      • No exposure to harmful ionising radiation

      • Less time spent in hospital visits and examinations

      • Integrated in clinical workflow

      • Registered images of soft tissue and bone

Dr. Kornelis Poelstra was the first spine surgeon to perform registered screw trajectory planning and navigation using BoneMRI. Read the article: First successful human spine surgery based on BoneMRI.

MRIguidance keeps working hard on improving its algorithms to take medical imaging technology further making radiation-free bone imaging available worldwide.
